A distinctive and characterful Piedmontese red from Luigi Giordano, a family estate based in Barbaresco. Produced from the traditional Freisa grape, Valle dei Salici combines vibrant red fruit, floral aromatics and savoury spice with the variety’s naturally lively structure. Fresh, energetic and unmistakably Italian, it offers an engaging alternative for lovers of Nebbiolo and other elegant northern Italian reds.
Tasting Notes:
Bright ruby red in colour, the nose is fragrant and expressive with aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and red cherry complemented by violet, dried herbs and delicate spice. The palate is fresh and medium-bodied, with juicy red berry fruit, lively acidity and fine, gently grippy tannins. Subtle earthy and peppery notes add complexity, leading to a savoury, refreshing and persistent finish.
Winemaking:
Produced from 100% Freisa grown in the Langhe hills of Piedmont. The grapes are carefully harvested and traditionally vinified with controlled fermentation and skin contact to extract the variety’s vibrant colour, perfume and characteristic structure. Maturation is handled to preserve freshness and varietal expression, allowing the bright fruit, floral character and naturally savoury qualities of Freisa to remain at the forefront.
Food Pairing:
An excellent match for charcuterie, roast pork, grilled sausages and rich pasta dishes. It also pairs beautifully with mushroom risotto, veal, pizza, dishes featuring truffle and mature Piedmontese cheeses.
ABV: 13.5%
