A compelling Malbec from the historic Cahors appellation in southwest France, where limestone plateaus and gravelly terraces along the Lot River provide ideal conditions for the variety. L’Equisse expresses both the intensity and elegance for which Cahors is renowned.
Tasting Notes:
Deep, dark ruby in colour, the nose shows ripe black plum, blackberry, and dark cherry, layered with subtle violet, cocoa, and gentle spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, with firm yet approachable tannins supporting rich dark fruit and hints of liquorice and savoury minerality. The finish is long, smooth, and persistent, reflecting the wine’s depth and balance.
Winemaking:
Sourced from a careful selection of parcels on the plateau and terraces of the Lot, the grapes are sustainably farmed under Haute Valeur Environnementale standards. Low-intervention vinification preserves purity and expression, with ageing techniques that allow the Malbec’s natural structure and fruit intensity to shine. This cuvée is Fair for Life certified, reflecting Rigal’s commitment to environmentally responsible and equitable practices.
Food Pairing:
A natural partner for grilled or roasted red meats, hearty stews, game, and mature hard cheeses. Also excellent on its own for a rich and satisfying glass.
ABV: 13.5%
