Stilio is a signature Primitivo di Manduria DOC from Mottura, produced in the sun-drenched vineyards of the Manduria and Salento area in Puglia. This region’s hot, dry summers and calcareous clay soils contribute to full phenolic ripeness and vibrant fruit intensity in the native Primitivo grape. The wine honours local culture and tradition, with its label inspired by the ancient Salento taranta dance.
Tasting Notes:
Deep ruby with purple highlights, the nose opens with an intense bouquet of jammy red fruit, marasca cherries and dried plums, followed by warm secondary notes of vanilla and clove. On the palate it is velvety, full-bodied and harmonious, with rich fruit concentration and supple tannins that carry through to a lingering, smooth finish.
Winemaking:
Made from 100% Primitivo grapes selected from low-yield vineyards, a portion of the fruit undergoes slight on-vine dehydration before harvest, concentrating flavours and sugars. After hand-picking, fermentation and a traditional maceration under controlled temperatures develop depth and structure. The wine is matured partly in French oak barriques, adding subtle complexity while preserving the varietal fruit character.
Food Pairing:
This richly flavoured Italian red is an excellent match for grilled and roasted red meats, hearty stews, game dishes and mature cheeses, where its ripe fruit and spice profile can shine.
