Description

A refined single-vineyard Pinot Noir from the Crouch Valley, this 2022 vintage highlights the growing reputation of the region for producing elegant, site-expressive still wines in England’s cool climate.

Tasting Notes:
Bright ruby in colour, the nose reveals lifted aromas of cherry, plum, damson and forest fruits, underpinned by subtle hints of chocolate, black pepper and a gentle smokiness. On the palate, the wine is silky and poised, with pure red and dark fruit flavours carried by fine tannins and fresh acidity. The texture is supple and refined, leading to an elegant, balanced finish with a touch of warming spice.

Winemaking:
Crafted from hand-harvested fruit picked at the end of October, the grapes are fermented in small open-top fermenters with a proportion of whole bunch inclusion to enhance structure and aromatic complexity. Gentle pigeage is carried out throughout fermentation, followed by an extended post-fermentation maceration. The wine is then pressed to barrel, where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and matures for around 12 months in French oak, a portion of which is new, adding depth and subtle complexity.

Food Pairing:
A versatile partner for roast poultry, duck, game birds and mushroom-based dishes. Its balance of fruit, acidity and gentle structure also complements charcuterie and soft cheeses.

ABV: 13.5%
