Belgardo is a pure Nebbiolo from Cascina Vèngore, produced in the small DOC of Terre Alfieri, located between Langhe, Roero and Monferrato in southern Piedmont. This emerging area is known for producing expressive yet approachable Nebbiolo, combining aromatic intensity with a softer, more immediate style than many of the region’s more famous appellations.
Tasting Notes:
Garnet red in colour, the nose is fragrant and spicy, with aromas of liquorice, cinnamon and subtle vanilla alongside red berry fruit. The palate is elegant and well balanced, showing vibrant fruit, gentle spice and the characteristic structure of Nebbiolo. The tannins are present but finely integrated, giving the wine persistence and poise through the finish.
Winemaking:
The vineyards at Cascina Vèngore form a natural amphitheatre in the heart of Terre Alfieri and are cultivated organically. Vinification follows traditional Piedmontese methods, using a combination of stainless steel, amphora and large-format oak, with minimal intervention in order to preserve the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir.
Food Pairing:
An excellent match for red meats, truffle pasta, mushroom-based dishes, vegetable risotto and aged cheeses.
