A classic southern Italian red from the heart of Sannio, this Aglianico from Cantina La Guardiense expresses the variety’s trademark depth and structure in a fresh, accessible style. It reflects both the distinctive terroir of inland Campania and the cooperative’s focus on purity of fruit and balance.
Tasting Notes:
Deep ruby red with garnet highlights, the nose offers ripe cherry and dark berry fruit, complemented by subtle notes of sweet spice and vanilla. On the palate it is full and expressive, with a smooth tannic texture, lively acidity, and a persistent, well-balanced finish.
Winemaking:
Produced from 100% Aglianico grown around Guardia Sanframondi in the Sannio hills, where the vineyards benefit from a temperate inland microclimate. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel to preserve freshness, with around 20% of the wine aged in French oak to add gentle structure and aromatic complexity.
Food Pairing:
An excellent match for grilled or roasted meats, slow-cooked stews, tomato-based pasta dishes, and mature hard cheeses. Its structure also complements lamb and hearty Mediterranean cuisine.
ABV: 13%
