A beautifully concentrated Chablis Vieilles Vignes from Domaine Alexandre, sourced from the estate’s oldest Chardonnay vines, some over 60 years of age, rooted in the classic Kimmeridgian limestone soils of the Chablis region. This is a wine of depth and precision, shaped by low yields and careful vineyard work, offering a more layered and expressive interpretation of Chablis while retaining its hallmark purity and tension.
Tasting Notes:
Pale gold in the glass, the nose is refined and complex, revealing citrus peel, ripe pear and white flowers alongside a distinct flinty, mineral character. The palate is more concentrated than a typical Chablis, with ripe orchard fruit, lemon zest and subtle stone fruit richness supported by a firm line of acidity. The texture is supple yet focused, leading to a long, structured finish with lingering mineral precision.
Winemaking:
Produced from low-yielding old vines, the grapes are gently pressed using pneumatic press before undergoing static settling to clarify the must. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled enamel-lined stainless steel tanks to preserve purity of fruit. The wine is then aged in tank before bottling at the domaine, allowing the concentration and complexity of the old vines to shine through without the influence of oak.
Food Pairing:
An excellent match for roast chicken, veal, shellfish, grilled fish and creamy poultry dishes. It also pairs beautifully with mild cheeses and refined seafood dishes, where its structure and mineral backbone bring balance and lift.
ABV: 12.5%
