Head to Naples, the Amalfi coast or southern Italy in general and one of the most widely availanble white grape varieties is Falanghina. It's a variety well suited to the warm Mediterranean climate and produces still and sparkling wines from light and delicate to seriously intense.
We've been searching for a great still Falanghina that sits somewhere in the middle and we've struck gold with this fabulous white from Cantin la Guardiense. It's dry fresh and lively, yet there is a great depth of flavour. There is some wonderful tropical pineapple and peach on the palate, and it has a great mineral streak to it and clean, fresh finish. A lovely aperitif or wine to go with seafood and light pasta dishes.
