This is the Flagship young Txakoli from Bodegas Virgen de Lorea. The spends a month on lees resulting in a slightly textural Txakoli, with well ripe citrus and green apple notes lifted by refreshing zippy acidity. It's absolutely delicious and dangerously easy drinking!
Bodegas Virgen de Lorea is a family-run estate in Zalla, at the heart of Bizkaiko Txakolina. The winery has deep roots in the region, dating back to the 19th century, when the Laiseka and Goikoetxea families began producing wine and cider on the southern slopes of the Otxaran–Zalla mountains.
Today the estate farms around 22 hectares of vines, mostly Hondarribi Zuri with a little Folle Blanche, using low-intervention, sustainable practices in the vineyard.. The inland location allows for excellent ripeness while retaining freshness, producing a riper, more refined gastronomic expression of Txakoli compared to the spritzier coastal styles – but still with the trademark zip and low alcohol the region is known for.
