A benchmark sweet wine from the Loire Valley, this 2014 Bonnezeaux from Château de Fesles is made from 100% Chenin Blanc grown on the schist-rich slopes of Thouarcé, one of the most prized sites within the appellation.
Tasting Notes:
Deep golden in colour with amber highlights. The nose is highly expressive, showing layers of honey, baked apple, candied citrus peel and ripe apricot, underpinned by subtle floral and mineral tones. On the palate, the wine is lusciously rich yet beautifully lifted by Chenin Blanc’s natural acidity. Flavours of quince, orange marmalade and dried stone fruit unfold with precision and depth, leading to a long, elegant finish marked by freshness and lingering honeyed complexity.
Winemaking:
Produced in the Bonnezeaux appellation, grapes are harvested by hand in multiple selective passes to ensure optimal ripeness and the influence of noble rot (botrytis cinerea), which concentrates both flavour and natural sugars. Fermentation is carefully managed to retain balance between richness and acidity, with ageing carried out to preserve purity and structure. This vintage reflects the estate’s long-standing focus on expressing terroir with clarity and precision, supported in recent years by organic vineyard conversion.
Food Pairing:
A natural partner for fruit-based desserts, tarte tatin and crème brûlée, as well as blue cheeses and pâté. It also works beautifully alongside lightly spiced dishes or can be enjoyed on its own as a contemplative sweet wine.
ABV: 12.5%
