A Grand Cru Brut Réserve from Bouzy, Champagne Delavenne Père & Fils’ Dom Basle cuvée reflects the power and finesse of this renowned south-facing terroir, expressed through a meticulous, low-intervention approach to winemaking.
Tasting Notes:
Pale gold in the glass with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is expressive and precise, opening with white peach, citrus zest and subtle exotic fruit, followed by notes of pear, almond and delicate floral lift. With air, the wine reveals greater complexity, developing frangipane, baked orchard fruit and a fine chalky minerality. The palate is structured yet refined, combining ripe white and stone fruit with a rounded texture and vibrant freshness. A clear mineral backbone carries through to a long, focused finish, where citrus, fruit and subtle nutty notes linger with finesse.
Winemaking:
Sourced exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards in Bouzy, this cuvée is crafted from approximately 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay grown on chalk, limestone clay and calcite soils. Produced by Delavenne, an independent Récoltant-Manipulant estate, the wine is made with indigenous yeasts and without malolactic fermentation to preserve natural tension and purity. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and enamel tanks, with ageing on lees for a minimum of several years to build depth and structure. The final blend combines two vintages and is finished with a carefully measured dosage (around 7g/L), supporting balance without masking terroir expression.
Food Pairing:
A versatile Grand Cru Champagne that pairs beautifully with seafood, shellfish, roast poultry, creamy sauces and refined vegetarian dishes. Also excellent as a celebratory aperitif, where its depth, freshness and structure are fully revealed.
ABV: 12.5%
