A refined introduction to Sauternes from Château Bastor-Lamontagne, “Les Remparts” is produced from younger vines within this historic Preignac estate, offering a classic expression of the appellation with both richness and freshness.
Tasting Notes:
Bright golden in colour. The nose is expressive and inviting, with aromas of honey, orange blossom and candied citrus, complemented by gentle sweet spice. On the palate, it is luscious yet well-balanced, combining flavours of ripe stone fruit, marmalade and lightly confit citrus with a refreshing lift of acidity. The finish is persistent and harmonious, with a clean, elegant freshness.
Winemaking:
Produced in the Sauternes appellation from a blend dominated by Sémillon with Sauvignon varieties, grown on the gravelly, sandy soils of the Garonne terraces. The grapes are harvested in successive passes, selecting fruit affected by noble rot (botrytis cinerea), which concentrates both sugars and flavour. Fermentation and ageing are carefully managed to preserve balance between richness, freshness and aromatic clarity, resulting in a wine that reflects the finesse of the estate.
Food Pairing:
A natural partner for fruit-based desserts, pâté and foie gras, as well as blue cheeses. Equally enjoyable on its own as a classic, approachable Sauternes.
ABV: 13.5%
