Description

A beautifully mature and elegantly styled Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé, Château Laroque reflects the finesse and balance that define the estate’s limestone plateau terroir. With origins dating back to the 12th century, the château is known for producing wines of precision, structure and quiet complexity.

Tasting Notes:
Deep garnet with gentle evolution at the rim, the nose is refined and expressive, opening with aromas of black cherry, plum and redcurrant, alongside more developed notes of tobacco, cedar and forest floor. Subtle hints of spice, liquorice and dried herbs add further complexity. The palate is medium-bodied and finely structured, with supple, well-integrated tannins and a fresh line of acidity that carries the wine gracefully. Dark fruit remains at the core, complemented by savoury, earthy nuances and a lightly mineral finish that brings precision and length.

Winemaking:
Predominantly Merlot, supported by Cabernet Franc and a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from the château’s limestone-rich vineyards. Parcels are vinified separately to preserve site expression, followed by maturation in oak barrels for around 12 months, integrating structure and aromatic complexity while maintaining balance and elegance.

Format Note (Magnum):
Large-format ageing allows for slower, more harmonious development, preserving freshness while enhancing complexity. This magnum format offers particularly graceful evolution, making it ideal for extended drinking and for sharing.

Food Pairing:
Well suited to roast lamb, beef dishes and game, as well as mushroom-based plates and mature cheeses. Its developed savoury character also pairs beautifully with slow-cooked, autumnal cuisine.

ABV: 14%
