A classic and expressive Haut-Médoc from Château Breillan, this Merlot-led Bordeaux comes from vineyards situated near Blanquefort, to the north of Bordeaux on the Left Bank. The estate’s gravel and clay-limestone soils, combined with careful vineyard management, contribute to a style that balances ripe fruit, structure and approachability.
Tasting Notes:
Deep garnet in the glass with youthful purple highlights, the nose is open and generous, offering aromas of blackcurrant, raspberry and red cherry. These are complemented by subtle notes of vanilla, spice and a gentle earthy, almost savoury edge. The palate is rounded and full, with juicy dark fruit at its core and a supple, well-integrated tannic structure. A touch of oak adds depth and warmth, leading to a smooth, harmonious finish with lingering fruit and spice.
Winemaking:
A traditional Bordeaux blend led by Merlot, vinified to preserve fruit purity and regional character. Following fermentation, the wine is matured in oak, where structure is softened and complexity gently developed, while retaining the fresh, fruit-driven identity typical of the estate’s modern Haut-Médoc style.
Food Pairing:
Well suited to roast beef, lamb and grilled meats, as well as hearty stews and rustic French dishes. It also pairs well with mature cheeses and charcuterie.
Format Note: Magnum format enhances ageing potential and preserves freshness, allowing the wine’s structure and fruit to evolve gracefully over time.
ABV: 13.5%
