A Grand Cru Champagne from Bouzy, Champagne Delavenne Père & Fils’ Dom Basle Brut Réserve in magnum format showcases the depth, structure and purity of this renowned terroir, with extended ageing potential and enhanced finesse from the larger bottle format.
Tasting Notes:
Pale gold in colour with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is expressive and layered, opening with white peach, pear and citrus zest, alongside subtle exotic fruit and delicate floral notes. With time in the glass, additional complexity emerges, revealing frangipane, baked apple, almond and a fine chalky minerality. The palate is generous yet precise, combining ripe orchard fruit with a rounded, creamy texture and vibrant freshness. Fine bubbles carry the wine through to a long, harmonious finish, where citrus, stone fruit and gentle nutty tones persist with elegance.
Winemaking:
Produced exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards in Bouzy, this cuvée is composed of approximately 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay grown on chalk, limestone clay and calcite soils. Made by Delavenne, an independent Récoltant-Manipulant estate, it follows a low-intervention philosophy using indigenous yeasts and no malolactic fermentation. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and enamel tanks to preserve purity and terroir expression. The wine is a blend of two vintages and is aged on lees for several years to build complexity, before being finished with a carefully balanced dosage of around 7g/L.
Food Pairing:
A versatile Grand Cru Champagne ideally suited to seafood, shellfish, roast poultry, creamy sauces and refined vegetarian dishes. The magnum format makes it especially well suited to gatherings and celebrations, and it is equally rewarding as a structured aperitif where its depth and finesse can fully unfold.
