Description

The secret recipe of Don Vincenzo, which was created during his time spent on the Island of Capri during the mid 1940s.

Inspired by the infamous rucolino, Staibano's amaro is characterised by rocket leaves which give it a smooth, delicate and subtle piquant flavour.

Their secret recipe also includes Amalfi Lemons and a mixture of other citus, spices, herbs and roots.

Capri Amaro was created to celebrate the birth of Don Vinceno's grandson Piero, which he famously toasted with a cafe corretto overlooking the famous faraglioni rocks of Capri.

Don Vincenzo Staibano was a stylish and charismatic playboy from Amalfi, known to many as “Il Gaga”. Surrounded by such outstanding natural beauty and unique architecture, Don Vincenzo unsurprisingly delighted in the dolce vita of the Amalfi Coast. As well as tending to his vast amount of lemon groves, he was a master at creating liqueurs and spirits which he started producing back in the 1930s. His concoctions were often served for all those who attended his famous, lavish parties in his lemon groves on the Amalfi Coast during the 1950s boom in Italy. After years of excessive fun and gambling, Don Vincenzo’s lemon groves sadly became decrepit and his production of alcohol dried up.

Some years later “Il Gaga’s” great-grandson who holds his acclaimed recipes brought back production to the Amalfi coast, reopening Casa Staibano for all to once again enjoy.
