Description

A mineral focussed style of Puligny. There is great depth and hints of oak influence, but the emphasis is on freshness, vibrancy and long clean finish. This is a wonderful Burgundy for seafood if ever we've tasted one.

Gaëlle and Jérôme Meunier are based in the village of Barizey, 5 miles from Mercurey. They also have parcels of vines on the Côte d’Or including some excellent parcels in Puligny-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet 1er cru Champ Gain. The wines are rich and easy going in style with great balance and depth of fruit. The grapes for this wine come from Nosroyes and Petites Nosroyes on the Meursault side of Puligny. The soil is lay and limestone and the grapes are hand harvested. After pressing the juice is left to settle for a few days then put into French oak barrels (30% new). Indigenous yeasts are used for fermentation and the wine spends 12 months in barrel before being blended and bottled.
