This has to be one of the most impressive wines you will find at this price. It is wonderfully rich, smooth textured and flavoursome, largely due to the partial drying of some of the grapes prior to the wine production process. There are intense red fruit on the nose and the palate is warm and full-bodied with harmonious acidity and smooth and elegant tannins. Baglio Gibellina is situated in picturesque Sicily where its vineyards are surrounded by the hills of Salemi and Santa Ninfa.

Nero d'Avola has become one of Sicily's more recognised red grape varieties due to the easy drinking nature of the wines it produces. This excellent wine has a lovely deep colour and vibrant cherry and plum flavour, yet it is not a heavy wine. It can be enjoyed on its own as well as with lighter meat dishes.
Baglio Gibellina is situated in picturesque Sicily where its vineyards are surrounded by the hills of Salemi and Santa Ninfa. The landscape is dotted with vineyards, olive groves, citrus trees, juniper trees and fichi d'India trees. Old vineyards located between 300-600m above sea level are grown on a mixture of clay and volcanic soils using the Guyot system with limited yields allowing for the production of outstanding wines with incredible food matching potential. Ruby red colour lined with a purple tinge. The bouquet has a pleasant fresh fruit fragrance. Fresh red fruits and a fresh lively and soft palate.
2020 Grillo IL Salinaro, Pellegrino, Sicily, Italy
Brilliant straw yellow in colour. Fine scents of citrus blends with strong floral notes of jasmine and orange blossom. The palate is fresh and balanced, with notes of grapefruit and lemon, softened by hints of vanilla. Salinaro - "vineyard by the sea" 14 ha of vineyard metres from the sea with a climate suited to producing a fresh and aromatic white made from Grillo. To retain its fresh, aromatic style the wine is fermented in stainless steel at cool temperature. It�s then aged in the vats for a few months on the lees before bottling.

The wine has an enticing aroma of floral scents, violet and orange blossom, and lemon zest. On the palate the wine is elegant and aromatic, with citrus notes of lemon and grapefruit, together with pleasant hints of almonds.

Nero d’Avola is a very important native varietal. Initially found in Siracusa, it is now spread in all the wine-making areas on the island. The selected old vineyards are located on the hills between 300 metres to 600 metres above the sea level. The vineyards are cultivated on clay soil with limited yields of grape per hectare using Guyot technique. This type of cultivation prefers clay-like terrain and is very sensitive to excessive dryness and too much exposure to sunlight.

2019 Appassimento Grillo, Miopasso, Sicily, Italy
Making a dry, white Appassimento style wine is really something quite new and different.
On the nose there are notes of dried fruits and nuts, with hints of oranges and grapefruit. The palate is soft and well-rounded, with touches of honey on the long finish.
The Grillo grapes are very carefully hand picked several times over, some when they have reached the peak of maturity, others after they have been left on the vines until they have lost the required amount of weight through drying.
Pellegrino are one of the leading producers of Marsala. They produce a range of styles, including this delicious ruby coloured marsala. As a younger style of Marsala it retains the cherry and plum flavours from the red grapes, but alongside the fruit are spicy flavours from a period of barrel ageing. It's a fortified sweet wine and can be treated quite like a young Port. It's great with chocolate and cheese.

2016 Ulyssee Etna, Pellegrino, Sicily, Italy
Grown on the active volcano of Mount Etna, Sicily. Here the indigenous varietals Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grow at over 600 metres on volcanic soils. These unique varietals and terroir create an incredibly distinctive and complex wine.
