2020 Chenin Blanc, Simonsvlei, Paarl, South Africa
2019 The Den Chenin Blanc, Painted Wolf Wines, Swartland, South Africa
This wine has a bright aroma and flavour of tropical fruit. Honeydew melon, guava and pineapple with an under lying savoury minerality and a lick of wood. The wine has a great texture and a long, layered finish with bright acidity keeping it fresh and vibrant.
The den Chenin blanc is delicious on its own. The wine is beautifully balanced with concentrated flavour. It is a versatile partner at the table complementing such classis dishes as coronation chicken, trout with almonds or even macaroni cheese. Great value for good everyday drinking with enough class for special dinners, high days and holidays.
Chenin blanc is harvested from a number of blocks in the Swartland region, both irrigated and dry farmed vines of various ages between 10 and 30 years old. 10% oak aged Chardonnay was blended in to the 2019 vintage for added depth.
2018 Anjou Chenin Sec, Chateau de Fesles, Loire Valley, France
This a very expressive Loire Valley Chenin Blanc. It has a generous weight and richness with a wonderful combination of quince, dried fruits and a hint of elderflower on the palate.

2020 Chenin Blanc, Kunye, Swartland, South Africa
KUNYE, meaning “together” in Xhosa, is a new nonprofit wine brand that celebrates the diversity of the South African landscape. All profits generated from the KUNYE wine sales will be placed into a scholarship fund to assist people from disadvantaged backgrounds in South Africa to forge a career in the wine industry.
In the vineyard the grapes are sourced from dryland farmed grapes in the prestigious Swartland area. These conditions naturally limit the crop and produce ripe berries with high acidity. In the cellar, no oak was used. Fermentation was completed in stainless steel tanks with natural yeasts and the wine was left on the lees for as long as possible before being bottled. The 2020 vintage was a dry and healthy growing season that followed a winter with good to normal rainfall which allowed the grapes to ripen optimally. One of the best quality vintages in recent years.
The result is a Chenin that’s textured, scented with apple-skin and guava, slightly tropical yet buttressed with fresh, ripe acidity.
2017 33 1/3 RPM White Blend, Rascallion Wines, Western Cape, South Africa
The Vinyl Collection from Rascallion Wines evokes the nostalgia of playing music on vinyl records which somehow have a richer and more resonant sound than digital music. The resulting wines achieve their own compelling resonance thanks to unique blends from exceptional sites.
A hedonistic mélange of Chenin Blanc, Roussanne, Grenache, Viognier and Verdelho from low yielding sites in Piekenierskloof.
Layered hints of freshness and floral aromas extend into well-rounded palate of peach and fresh pear and pineapple flavours, and a soft, white tannin finish.
2019 Saumur Blanc 'Le Petit-Saint-Louis', Chateau de Montgueret, Loire Valley, France
This delightful dry Chenin Blanc from the Loire is an excellent introduction to this wonderful, yet often overlooked, grape variety. Although there is a lovely, crunchy apple, acidity to the wine, it has the texture to balance. Alongside the apple is a slightly richer, ripe melon and quince note that fits perfectly.
50cl bottle - 2000 Bonnezeaux, Château de Fesles, Loire Valley, France
A delightful sweet, but not overly sweet, Chenin from this small Loire Valley appellation. At 20 years old it is still in great condition, with some lovely toasty, caramelised orange peel flavours and even a slightly nutty note in the background. It has a generous texture, but a good seam of acidity keeps it fresh.
